Altered Reality
Altered Reality is a photographic series that challenges the viewer’s trust in images of the natural world. Each work begins as a documentary photograph of a real site shaped by industry, infrastructure, or development. Using AI tools, all visible human-made elements are removed and replaced with convincingly natural landscapes that never existed.
Faint schematic outlines of the erased structures are then reintroduced as ghosted overlays. These traces interrupt the illusion of untouched nature and point to what has been concealed. Rather than offering a utopian vision, Altered Reality exposes how easily images of nature can be constructed, sanitized, and believed. The series examines how generative technologies reshape perception and environmental truth, and what remains visible when reality is edited to feel natural.
